Retired in 2004 after serving 30 years in the United States Army Nurse Corp retiring at the Rank of Colonel. Served on active duty in Vietnam (1968) at the 93rd and 95th Evac Hospitals. In 1991 served with the 403rd Combat Support Hospital during Desert Storm. Throughout her Military career has worked in various positions with increasing responsibilities. Career culminated as the Commander of the 6253rd United States Army Reserve Hospital. Retired from Banner Health in 2012 serving the last ten years as the CEO for Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, The Banner Psychiatric Center and The Wendy Paine O'Brien Adolescent Center.
Education includes Bachelors in Nursing and a Masters in Human Relations and Organizational Business. Has received numerous civilian and military awards to include "The Legion of Merit" in 2008. Honoree at the 2012 YWCA Women in Leadership awards in the military category, 2014 inductee into The Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame, and 2014 Pride of Tempe award for her work with individuals with disabilities. Local and national presenter, published in both national and international journals.
Currently serving as Chair Women of the Board of The Honor House, a organization providing transitional healing programs for returning Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. The Board of The Centers for Habilitation, providing care and services for Special Needs Adults, Veterans Advisory Board for Veterans First, providing affordable housing for at risk female Veterans, Sr. Vice Commander for the Phoenix Chapter of The Military Order of the World Wars, dedicated to promoting and furthering patriotic education, Life member of In-Country Vietnam Veterans, dedicating to serving our community and enhancing a positive image of the Vietnam Veteran. Serves on The Tempe Veterans Commission and is a member of The Veterans Mental Health Coalition.
The mission is to provide a complete transitional package that utilizes resources from the community to meet therapeutic needs of our Veterans affected by combat.
